Consortia Groups
Special Education Directors Collaborative Community
Purpose: To ensure LEAs Special Education and GNETS Directors in the region have professional learning and technical assistance to support collaboration to ensure universal supports are provided around IDEA compliance and increased functional and academic achievement for SWDs.
School Psychologists
Purpose: The Heart of Georgia Regional School Psychologists Consortium provides collaborative opportunities for school psychologists and interns to explore and stay up-to-date in effective evaluation strategies, data-based decision-making skills and strategies, ethical guidelines, special education law, and other topics based on the group's needs.
MTSS Consortium
Purpose: District and School Level MTSS Coordinator Collaborative designed to improve performance outcomes for all learners through implementing the Georgia Tiered System of Supports for Students, including evidence-based interventions, screenings, progress monitoring, data-based decision making, multi-level prevention system, and infrastructure.
Speech Language Pathologists
Purpose: To provide SLPS in the region professional learning and technical assistance in best practices for school-based speech and langauge therapy. The needs of the group drive the topics for the training sessions but can include topics such as dyslexia, language or voice impairments, AAC, articulation, stuttering, etc.
Special Education Preschool Teachers Consortium
Purpose: The Heart of Georgia Special Education Preschool Teachers job alike helps teachers in the region with resources and professional learning designed to improve the transition into preschool, improve early childhood outcomes, and educate preschool students in the least restrictive environment.
Teachers of Students with Significant Cognitive Disabilities
Purpose: To ensure teachers of students with significant cognitive disabilities professional learning and technical assistance to implement evidence-based practices, High Leverage Practices, specially designed instruction, with fidelity to increase the functional and academic achievement of students with significant disabilities.
Heart of Georgia Transition Consortium
Purpose: To ensure teachers of students with disabilties who are transition age have the professional learning and technical assistance to promote transition best practices, self-determination, and transition compliance.
Special Education Paraprofessional Consortium
Purpose: To provide professional learning and technical assistance on special education laws, evidence-based practices, and High Leverage Practices for special education paraprofessionals who help and support teachers of students with disabilities.
Occupational Therapsits and Physical Therapists Consortium
Purpose: Provide professional learning and technical asisstance to school occupational therapists and physical therapists as required by IDEA to help students with disabilities access their educational program.
Purpose: To ensure teachers and technology specialists in the region have the professional learning and technical assistance to support the adoption and integration of assistive technology and accessible educational materials.
